About Steampunk New England

Enter a World Where Steam Meets Dream

Imagine a place where the tick of clockwork echoes in alleyways, where airship captains share tales over tea, and where the hiss of steam and the jingle of brass carry through the crisp mountain air. You step through the gates not as a spectator, but as a character in a living, breathing novel — one that you help write simply by showing up.

Welcome to Steampunk New England, a festival where fantasy, art, and community collide in the most marvellous way. This isn’t just a market. It isn’t just a music event. It’s a transformation — of space, of self, and of imagination. Over two days (and a special Friday night), the town becomes an alternate universe where the Victorian era meets speculative futures and where everyone is invited to participate in the fun.

Meet the Makers Behind the Madness

Steampunk New England is the brainchild of Kelvin Fahey

Kelvin Fahey is no stranger to the world of events. With decades of experience producing music festivals across Australia, he understands the rhythm of a successful gathering. From booking artists to managing logistics, Kel ensures the bones of the event are solid so that everything else can soar. His festivals have brought together communities, created lifelong memories, and left audiences wanting more.

A Festival Built for You

This festival wasn’t built to be stared at. It was built to be stepped into.

You’ll find markets, of course — 30 colourful stalls packed with handmade crafts, leatherworks, corsets, accessories, and oddities you won’t find anywhere else. But what makes Steampunk New England truly unique is the world it builds around those markets.

Roving performers drift through the crowd, telling stories in character. Inventors display steam-powered contraptions and invite you to guess their function. At any moment, you might be drawn into a scavenger hunt, a tea duel, a costume parade, or an impromptu musical number.

Want to learn how to solder copper or design your own goggles? Join a workshop. Feel like a quiet moment? Take a seat at the High Tea Lounge, where cucumber sandwiches meet cryptic poetry readings.

And then there’s the unexpected: robots riding penny farthings. A brass band that only plays 1920s swing remixed with glitch beats. A time traveller giving weather reports from the year 1889. You never know what you’ll stumble across — and that’s exactly the point.

Friday Night: The Secret Doorway

The weekend begins with an exclusive Friday night warehouse party, where only 200 lucky guests are allowed entry. This is no ordinary dance party. It begins with live music, costumed performers, and theatrical surprises, then evolves into a silent disco that kicks off at 10:30 PM. Each guest gets their own headset and chooses their own auditory adventure.

It’s underground. It’s electric. It’s weird in all the right ways.

This one-night-only experience sets the tone for the weekend to follow — an invitation to leave the mundane behind and step fully into something spectacular.

Stay Awhile — The Caravan Village

If you really want the full experience, book a powered caravan site and stay for the weekend. You’ll be among a community of like-minded travellers, artists, families, and costume enthusiasts. In the mornings, you’ll smell espresso and hear fiddle music drifting through the air. In the evenings, fire pits glow while stories are swapped over mulled cider.

This isn’t just camping. It’s immersive living theatre. The caravan village becomes its own tiny steampunk town.

For just $139 per site plus $10 per person, you get two nights in a vibrant, interactive village, complete with power, toilets, entertainment, and community. It’s cheaper than most hotels — and ten times more magical.

Why Dress Up?

Because when everyone dresses up, the world changes. Suddenly, you’re not at an event. You’re in a story. You’re not a customer — you’re a character.

At Steampunk New England, costumes aren’t just encouraged — they’re part of the atmosphere. Whether you’re a full-blown airship admiral or just wearing a pair of goggles and a vest, your effort helps build the world. It’s this shared commitment to creativity that makes the festival feel so alive.

We’ve seen time travellers, steam sirens, mad scientists, enchanted engineers, and walking clock towers. And every single person added something special to the atmosphere just by showing up dressed for adventure.

Something for Every Soul

Families love the free kids’ activities and gentle storytelling. Teens love the interactive scavenger hunts, costume competitions, and night parties. Artists love the workshops and the creative freedom. Introverts love the quiet corners and thoughtful details. Extroverts love the dancing, the drama, and the chance to shine.

You don’t have to know anything about steampunk to feel at home here. All you need is curiosity.

Memories That Stick

People leave Steampunk New England with more than purchases. They leave with moments.

Like the time two strangers were married by a fake steam-priest during a comedy sketch that somehow became real. Or the kid who built a cardboard jetpack in a workshop, then spent the day convincing everyone it actually worked. Or the night an entire caravan row broke into dance when DJ Apparition dropped a remix of “Sing, Sing, Sing” into a dubstep breakdown.

This is a festival made of those moments. The kind you talk about for years. The kind that stick with you.
