About this work

Clock Sphere with a Dragonfly, from the series Victorian’s Bauhaus, is an intimate object combining glazed grogged clay, a printed image and a metal clockwork gear. The pale, crackled glaze and precise drawing of the insect evoke the delicacy of a treasured antique. The dragonfly, resembling an illustration from a natural history atlas, expresses a fascination with animal mechanics — the precision of bodies and movement that seems perfectly engineered. Its delicate wing structure meets a metal gear, suggesting a dream of a machine capable of imitating the lightness and agility of a living organism. I am drawn to this suspended moment between an object from a cabinet of curiosities and an invention existing only in a dream.
