About this work
Clock Sphere 2, from the series Victorian’s Bauhaus, combines glazed grogged clay, a printed pocket watch and a metal gear. The timepiece depicted on the rounded body makes the object resemble an unusual instrument whose purpose we can only imagine. The crackled pale glaze and muted metal suggest a precious object surviving from an old collection. I am interested in the tension between the promise of movement held in the gear and the stillness of the ceramic sphere. In this encounter, I suspend a dream of a machine that could preserve moments and recall what has passed.
