International Steampunk Art Prize 2026

Lord Rainero of the Tuluminati was inspired by a flamingo I created for my Pink Flamingo coloring book. When I discovered this competition, I knew little about steampunk, so I started researching its mechanical elements, colors, and Victorian style. Then I imagined: What if flamingos took over the world? Like Planet of the Apes, but Planet of the Flamingos! Lord Rainero is the royal ruler of this pink world, and this is his official portrait, displayed in his royal residence. His name comes from my husband, Rainer, and Tuluminati was inspired by Tulum, Mexico. I gave my bright pink flamingo a steampunk personality with gears, mechanical details, and bold colors. I kept the painted Victorian frame traditional, without mechanical changes, because I loved the contrast. Created with acrylic paint and pens, this mixed-media piece was so much fun to make. I now have a whole new appreciation for steampunk!
