The Absent Word explores the fragile boundary between expression and silence, where the fluid poetry of calligraphy encounters the stark violence of weaponry. By contrasting expressive, gestural strokes of crimson and traditional calligraphy with the cold materiality of a firearm, this work examines the moment speech is suspended. It questions how power, confrontation, and trauma intersect with culture and art—asking what remains when words are forcefully rendered silent, leaving only the reverberation of an absent voice.
