About this work

The King Who Owned Time is a handmade author’s figure, 22 × 12 cm, inspired by the King from Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince, a character I have always loved: a monarch who rules over everything, yet gives only orders that can be obeyed. The head and body are sculpted from papier-mâché and self-hardening clay, the throne is made of corrugated cardboard, and everything is hand-painted by me. The robe is sewn from burgundy and white velvet with black beads; the costume is made of fine knit. The chain and heart pendant are made from a piece of chain, and the broken clock face in his hands was found at a flea market. My King is dignified, ironic and a little out of his era, in bright red sneakers.
